How to Create a URL Slug

1. Start with the real title

Use the page or product title that accurately describes the content you will publish.

2. Choose language handling

Preserve local-language letters or select ASCII only when your website and approved naming rules require it.

3. Check before publishing

Review meaning, length, encoding, duplicate words, and redirect requirements before changing any live URL.

Slug Generation Rules

The generator normalizes Unicode compatibility characters, optionally removes combining accents after Latin letters, replaces unsupported punctuation with the chosen separator, collapses repeated separators, removes selected individual words, and applies the character limit at a complete separator boundary when possible. Emoji and symbols are removed. Non-Latin text is preserved only in Unicode mode; no automatic transliteration is invented.

Data handling: Titles, base URLs, removal words, generated slugs, previews, and the TXT file stay in your browser. Nothing entered here is uploaded or stored by this tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should a URL slug always use English words?

No. Modern URLs can contain Unicode characters. A readable local-language slug can be appropriate when it matches the page language and your website handles Unicode paths correctly. This tool also shows an ASCII-only option, but it does not guess transliterations for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, or other scripts.

Does a shorter slug improve search rankings?

This tool makes a slug easier to read and manage, but it does not predict or guarantee rankings. Keep the words that accurately identify the page, avoid unnecessary repetition, and preserve existing URLs unless you can implement and test the correct redirect.

What does Remove English stop words do?

It removes a visible fixed list of common English connector words such as “the,” “and,” “of,” “for,” and “with.” It does not remove stop words in other languages. Review the concise result because a short connector can still be important to a product name or search meaning.

Why can the ASCII-only result be empty?

ASCII-only mode keeps Latin letters and numbers after removable Latin accents are normalized. It does not invent Romanized spellings for other writing systems. Add an approved transliteration yourself or use the Unicode-preserving result.

Are my titles or URLs stored?

No. Slug generation, previews, copying, and TXT download creation happen in your browser. TradeGoAI does not receive or store the title, base URL, custom removal words, or generated slugs.
