Paste plain text or select HTML source to extract visible wording from markup.

2. Set realistic speeds

Use text units per minute that fit the language, audience, difficulty, and reading or speaking context.

3. Review structure and timing

Compare paragraphs, sentences, average lengths, and estimated duration before publishing.

Counting and Timing Guidance

Multilingual text units

Space-separated words and numbers count as units. Han, Hiragana, Katakana, and Hangul characters count individually in unspaced text.

Sentence estimates

Common sentence-ending punctuation is counted. Abbreviations, decimals, headings, and unusual punctuation can require manual review.

Timing is adjustable

Reading and speaking estimates divide total units by your selected speeds. They do not measure comprehension, accessibility, or content quality.

The content and settings you enter are used only to create the measurements, copied summary, and CSV shown on this page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the tool count words in different languages?

Words and numbers count as units in space-separated languages. Han, Hiragana, Katakana, and Hangul characters count individually so unspaced content can still be measured. The result labels these collectively as text units.

How is estimated reading time calculated?

The tool divides total text units by the reading speed you enter. The default is 225 units per minute, but you should adjust it for the language, audience, content difficulty, and reading context.

Why might the sentence count differ from an editor?

Sentence counting uses common ending punctuation, including periods, question marks, exclamation marks, and CJK equivalents. Abbreviations, decimal numbers, headings, and unusual punctuation can produce a different estimate.

Can I count text from HTML?

Yes. Select HTML source to analyze extracted visible text while excluding script, style, template, and noscript content. Complex embedded components can still require a manual review.

Is the content I paste uploaded or saved?

No. The content, speed settings, measurements, copied summary, and downloaded CSV are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to TradeGoAI.
