Include the real spacing, line breaks, links, hashtags, mentions, emoji, and multilingual text you plan to publish.

2. Select a planning limit

Use an official X or LinkedIn guide, or enter the exact custom limit required by another channel or campaign.

3. Verify in the composer

Copy the checked post and confirm the final remaining count inside the destination platform before publishing.

Counting Rules and Platform Guides

The main total uses Unicode-aware grapheme segmentation, so a visible combined emoji or accented letter is treated as one character. Spaces and line breaks are included. “Without Spaces” removes all Unicode whitespace. Words use Unicode-aware word segmentation. Links, hashtags, and mentions are reported separately to help you review post structure.

The X Standard Post guide uses 280 characters and the LinkedIn Post guide uses 3,000 characters. These are publishing references, not a guarantee that this page will reproduce each platform’s internal counter. Links, emoji, scripts, account subscriptions, and feature changes can affect the final platform result.

Data handling: Your draft, count, preview, clipboard copy, and text download stay in your browser. Nothing entered here is uploaded or stored by this tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this tool count as one character?

It counts user-perceived Unicode characters, also called grapheme clusters. A combined emoji, accented letter, space, or line break counts as one visible character. This is more useful for editing than counting the underlying storage units.

Will the result exactly match every social platform?

Not always. Social platforms can apply their own rules to links, emoji, scripts, account types, and paid features. Use the result as a publishing check, then confirm the final count in the platform composer before posting.

How are links counted?

The character total counts the visible characters you entered, while the URL metric reports how many web links were detected. Some platforms shorten links or apply a fixed link length, so their composer may show a different remaining count.

Does it work with emoji and non-Latin languages?

Yes. The counter uses the browser’s Unicode-aware text segmentation for emoji, accented text, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and other scripts. Platform-specific weighting can still differ from the planning count.

Is my post uploaded or stored?

No. Counting, preview, copying, and text-file download happen in your browser. TradeGoAI does not receive or store the post entered in this tool.
